Have you ever wondered why someone you cared about left your life—and what lesson that relationship was meant to teach you? As Thanksgiving approaches, we’ve been reflecting on the people who have blessed our lives, even if only for a season. Cathy still remembers the first time she saw Wicked on Broadway in 2007, shortly after losing her sister. Sitting in that dark New York theater, she found unexpected comfort in Glinda and Elphaba’s bittersweet friendship and the song “For Good.” This year, as she mourned the loss of her best friend, she saw Wicked again—and those same words took on new meaning: “Because I knew you, I have been changed for good.” Life has a way of weaving beauty through heartache, and gratitude helps us see how those threads connect.
In our new video, “Why Do Good Relationships End?,” we explore how this Broadway story mirrors real life—the giving and the letting go, the jealousy and forgiveness, the endings that lead to growth. Elphaba’s unexpected love connection, Glinda’s gracious acceptance, and Nessa’s forced relationship all show how relationships shape us in ways we often don’t recognize until later. Jeff first marriage, although painful, taught him that love must be mutual to thrive. It is better to let go of something half-hearted than to hold on and shrink your soul.
This Thanksgiving, we’re especially grateful for the people who have touched our hearts and shaped our journeys—for the friends, mentors, family, and even past loves who have “changed us for good.” Every relationship, joyful or difficult, carries a divine lesson meant to help us become more compassionate, wise, and whole. As you gather this season, we invite you to reflect on the people who’ve blessed your path and enjoy this heartfelt video—a reminder that even life’s hardest goodbyes can lead to grace, gratitude, and growth.
Why Do Good Relationships End?

In this heartfelt episode, Jeff and Cathy react to the second half of WICKED and uncover powerful lessons about why good relationships end, how to let go of what isn’t healthy in relationships, and how every person who enters our lives can truly “change us for good.”
