Dating and marriage are a continual process of a man and a woman getting to know each other. While each individual is unique and special, men and women have complimentary characteristics that can bless a relationship. While no one is 100% stereotypically male or female, it is important to recognize and understand general tendencies in an effort to better understand each other.
In the beginning, Adam helped form the Earth, so he is a builder. In doing so he was carrying out the will of God and creating the environment within which his children and all of his posterity would live. He believed in keeping the commandments of God strictly and was careful not to be deceived by false messengers. However, Adam loved his wife and was willing to partake of the forbidden fruit once she had explained to him why this was necessary. Adam had spiritual gifts of prophecy and, when his eyes were open, he had hope that he would have joy in this life and beyond (Moses 5:10).
Eve was intuitive and could see the discrepancy in the commandments she and Adam had been given to not partake of the fruit and to multiply and replenish the earth (both of which could not be honored at the same time). She made a courageous choice and her eyes were opened so she was able to explain the nuances of the Fall to Adam in a way he could accept and they were able to multiply and replenish the earth together. Eve valued her posterity and the purposes of her life as a woman and mother more than living in paradise forever where her wisdom and family were unable to grow.
Adam and Eve were partners in seeking light and truth through their relationship with God. Eve said of the fall: “Were it not for our transgression we never should have had seed, and never should have known good and evil, and the joy of our redemption, and the eternal life which God giveth unto all the obedient.” Adam and Eve blessed the name of God, and they made all things known unto their sons and their daughters" (Moses 5:11-12).
