LILY Letter 28: The Power of Words

October 19, 2021
"Always remember that you and your dating partners have infinite potential, and God cares deeply about their hearts and souls--hearts you have the power to break or help heal. Make the intentional choice to be a wise friend and a healer. There are very few problems to which love is not the solution" (Jeff Teichert, Intentional Courtship).

The words we choose in our minds and hearts lead to the labels we place on ourselves and others. In an effort to examine ways in which we can shift our thoughts to more empowering labels, we created a thought-provoking podcast called: "Thoughtful Labeling." We really do have the power to be an influence for pain or for healing in our own lives and in the lives of others. Being intentional (rather than haphazard) with our judgements, gives us the opportunity to choose a better, more fulfilling way.

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God" (John 1:1). This is why words are so powerful--particularly when they reflect the truth and light of God Himself. "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory" (John 1:14, parenthesis omitted). God is teaching us that His Words have the power to create something spiritually that will manifest in the physical world. Jesus is the Word because He is the expression of God's intent.

"Intentional Courtship: A Mid-Singles Guide to Peace, Progress and Pairing Up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" was written in prayer and counseling with the Lord. We believe the words therein have the power to bless the spiritual, emotional, and relational lives of mid-singles everywhere. We are pleased to announce it will be released this fall, as promised, in November!
